The Coby Brown Group,
Homesick
(independent, 2000)

What can you do when you pick up an album described as "Stevie Wonder meets Sting meets Jeff Buckley meets Blues Traveler"? Well, play it man, play it, because that album would have to be Homesick by the Coby Brown Group.

Hailing from New York, the Coby Brown Group is comprised of frontman Coby Brown, drummer Justin Varnes, Oscar Perez on piano and organ, guitarist Aaron Maxwell, and Anthony Perez on bass.

Like many of the predecessors listed in their description, the Coby Brown Group is full of soulful lyrics and blues rock rifts. The words, and Coby's voice, are married well to the sounds of the band, producing a fine groove in each tune that will get you swinging and tapping your toes. Eight tracks, including "Dangerous," "My Baby" and "The King of Halloween," are all guaranteed to have you humming and singing along.

With soul and rhythm, the Coby Brown Group spins music that reaches right to you and moves you. A great listen.
