Evangenitals,
Evangenitals
(independent, 2009)

The band's name, Evangenitals, definitely got my attention. Then, I open up the self-titled CD and discover it's all female vocals. Definitely a win for this reviewer.

Evangenitals is short, only seven songs, which is a good number considering that the band has seven members. Still, the band didn't make as good a use of the disc as I would have hoped, coming in at less than 30 minutes.

Some favorites here are the witchy drum-driven rhythms of "Work Song" and the rockabilly sound of "Home."

One thing I will say for this group, you're never really quite sure what they're going to play next, which is good and refreshing from the over-produced music that tends to sound the same.
