Fire in the Glen,
Nollaig Shona Dhaoibh
(independent, 2019)

Fire in the Glen's Celtic Christmas CD, Nollaig Shona Dhaoibh, is a lively and entertaining mix of Christmas music.

If you enjoy Celtic music, you will enjoy this Christmas album. I loved the various Celtic medleys of favorite carols, and the pacing was great! Perfect for listening while you are decorating the tree, or cookies, or just enjoying a night out at the Celtic pub!

The musicians -- Megan Mullen on lead vocals and keyboard, Mick Mullen on lead vocals, guitar, and Tom Knapp on fiddle, bodhran and backing vocals -- are clearly having a good time playing for people, and that makes it fun. And not only is is good to listen to on its own, but it'd be a great addition to a Celtic Christmas song mix.

The album is a mix of the familiar and the obscure. Tracks include songs such as "Christmas in Killarney," "The Holly & the Ivy," "Miss Fogarty's Christmas Cake," "Silent Night/O Holy Night" and a bodhran-heavy interpretation of "Deck the Halls."

Fiddle medleys include "The Devonshire Carol/God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/Ding Dong Merrily on High," "Lo How a Rose E'er Blooming/Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day/We Wish You a Merry Christmas/Snowflake Hornpipe," "Sans Day Carol/All You That in This House/Furry Day Carol," "Coventry Carol/The Holly & the Ivy Girl/Gloucestershire Wassail" and "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear/The Gooding Carol/The Golden Carol of the Wisemen/Joy to the World."
