My husband got this cookbook for me when he was in Wales making a bronze sword. That was really cool, and so is this cookbook.

I am fascinated by historical cooking, and read a lot about it and also cook the recipes that look tasty and interesting -- and this cookbook is full of them! The recipes are also accessible, and do not require unusual ingredients, for the most part. I can just open it at random, and find a few recipes that I'd love to make!

It's organized into seasonal recipes, though many of them could span seasons. Still, I like that approach.

This would be a good introduction to historical cooking, for anyone who is interested in such but does not want to make anything too weird. The recipes look solid, tasty and accessible.

I am filing it with my other historical cooking books, and plan on making some sort of historical-based feast this fall, plus maybe one for the Christmas season.
