Gan Bua, Live at Martyrs (independent, 2006) Gan Bua has fairly young players, but they are firmly in the traditional side of Irish music. There is only acoustic, no electric guitar, although the percussionist plays djembe, kick drum and hi-hat in addition to the bodhran. There is also, of course, a fiddler, Sean Gavin plays flute and tin whistle, and vocalist Brian Hart plays tin whistle and concertina. Most of the 10 cuts are instrumental medleys of two or three songs. Most of the vocals on the remaining cuts are in Gaelic. Even though it is live, this is a fairly restrained CD. The musicianship is solid, however. It is recommended for those who like their Celtic on the traditional side. [ visit the artist's website ] |
