Mary Harvey is a native of Chicago, Ill., where she graduated from St. Xavier University with a BA in English. She was on the writing staff of her high school and college newspapers, a step up from having to deliver them. She went to work on her master's at the University of Illinois at Chicago campus until she discovered that writing her own stories was loads more fun than writing term papers.

The Irish South Sider now lives on Chicago's North Side with a beautiful Jewish woman and about a quarter ton of quadruped. She is a quite gentle soul who gets most of her exercise jumping to conclusions but will fight tooth and nail for her religious beliefs: namely, that comic books and graphic art storytelling is a legitimate and influential form of literature and art unto itself, and anyone who says otherwise will end up with an arrow in their brains.
