Michael Powers,
Prodigal Son
(Baryon, 2006)

Influenced by the likes of Bob Dylan, the Yardbirds and Jimi Hendrix, Michael Powers combines the American and British tinges in his blues performances. Playing guitar since the age of 7, he has amassed a style that is powerful and compassionate.

Through the 12 tracks on offer here he invites the listener to accompany him on a journey through some classics and a few new tracks. Each song is imbued with a genuine love of his craft that comes across in a powerful way.

Among my favourites are "White Lightning" and "Compassion." But each listener will have his or her own favorites to choose, and that is the beauty of a good recording.

Check this out and enjoy blues, as it should be played.
