Tullamore Celtic Band,
Tullamore Celtic Band
(independent, 2004)

The new self-titled CD by the Tullamore Celtic Band is a collection of lively, traditional tunes from Celtic areas around the world. This fun-loving band, based in Rochester, N.Y., takes its name from the Tullamore area of Ireland -- known for its culture (and fine Irish whiskey). The trio offers up a selection of familiar tunes -- but it isn't the same old stuff, because this time it comes with a twist.

Dick Bolt (fiddle, harp, guitar, lead vocals), Brian Coughlin (flutes, pennywhistles, vocals) and Terry O'Toole (guitars, pennywhistles, vocals) display their musical talents by adding multiple harmonies to the tunes, both vocally and instrumentally.

The Tullamore Celtic Band has created a CD for the Celtic music fan and musician alike. The lads have provided a perfect disc for joining in on the music for your very own session with the band, whether you're a singer or musician. (The liner notes helpfully list the types of tunes they are playing, Terry's guitar tuning and the whistles Brian is playing for each.) The dancer, too, has plenty of tunes to kick up his or her heels. Or just sit back and enjoy some good craic.
