Wild Mountain Thyme,
directed by John Patrick Shanley
(Lionsgate, 2020)

Rosemary Muldoon (Emily Blunt) is a headstrong Irish farmer who wants to win the love of her neighbor, Anthony Reilly (Jamie Dorman). It sounds simple enough, right?

The problem is, Anthony believes he's cursed, and his father Tony (Christopher Walken) wants to sell the family farm to his American nephew Adam (Jon Hamm).

Wild Mountain Thyme, written and directed by John Patrick Shanley, is right in my wheelhouse as far as subject matter goes, and the music interspersed among the scenery is great -- but for some reason, the acting and storyline just lost me. Seldom do I wander off during a Celtic-themed movie, but I just couldn't stick with it. The spouse stayed with it to the end, and he said it was an OK film.

He's a good deal more patient with obvious romance films than I am.

It doesn't help that the so-called "Irish" accents in this movie are notoriously bad.
