Brainscan #15
by Alex Wreckk

Just listing the contact info, if printed out, would probably be bigger than this issue of Brainscan. It's a 1/8-sized marvel -- two tiny zines with acetate covers in a tiny envelope made of various materials depending on which batch you get. (Mine was from what looks like blueprints in Spanish -- Bienivienda Moderna or somesuch.)

You have to love Alex. She's got this sort of warped way of viewing the world that's both new and artistic simultaneously. And in these two tiny volumes, she expresses two very distinct thoughts: catharsis and lost love. Both very common zine topics, but with Alex's Brainscan, the results are never typical.

She packs a great deal of design into the small pages, delivering up tidbits like "the old you wouldn't like who you have become either" with creative cut-and-paste over photos she took herself.

Just for one day, I'd like to hang out inside Wrekk's head, just to see how she comes up with all this beautiful, honest simplicity. I have a feeling that it'd look an awful lot like Brainscan #15. See for yourself by sending $1 to P.O. Box 14332, Portland, OR 97293.
