Br. Benet Steven Exton, O.S.B., can usually be found at St. Gregory's Abbey in Shawnee, Oklahoma. A 1984 graduate of St. Gregory's College, he entered the abbey on July 10, 1985; made his simple profession of vows on July 11, 1986; and made his solemn profession on July 11, 1989. He later earned a bachelor's degree in religious studies, with a minor in history, from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, and a master's degree in library and information studies from the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
He works or has worked at St. Gregory's University as a cataloging librarian and archivist, and at St. Gregory's Abbey as a librarian, archivist, guestmaster, sacristan, liturgy coordinator, master of ceremonies, gift shop manager and tour guide.
He enjoys reading fantasy, science fiction and American Civil War histories, and he likes Christian religious, classical and Celtic music. He is of English, Irish, Czech, German, Austrian, Swedish and Danish heritages.
