Jim Brickman, The Disney Songbook (Walt Disney, 2005) Here is more lovely and loving piano music from award-winning Jim Brickman, this time saluting and absolutely cherishing a potpourri of Disney tunes from "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" to "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" Brickman is joined on a few numbers on The Disney Songbook by an equally eclectic group of vocalists. Wayne Brady's "Beautiful," inspired by the DVD release of Cinderella, lives up to its title. Country diva Lila McCann lends her talents to "I'm Amazed," and soap star Kassie DePaiva delivers a competent rendition of "Baby Mine." But the vocal highlights for this reviewer come from American Idol alums Kimberley Locke and Josh Gracin -- "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" and "When I See an Elephant Fly," respectively. The vocals here are great and certainly add to the variety of the album, but Brickman's solo piano never ceases to delight, enchant and enrapture. This is a must for fans and will please anyone who enjoys pleasantly evocative piano music. |
