Alex Clements, Emily's Song (independent, 2005) This is a very personal album of piano music by an expert jazz player and composer, Canadian recording artist Alex Clements. The Alberta-based musician, who was introduced to jazz by an instructor at age 13, keeps his family close to heart with these compositions. He opens with "A Song for Ethan," written for his son. The title track, "Emily's Song," is for his daughter. Clements also plays the work of Michel Legrand on "Pieces of Dreams" and "You Must Believe in Spring." He ends the album with "Waltz for Peace." If you like piano music, you will love this. There are not any hits on offer here, and certainly nothing you're likely to hear on the radio, but you will get a beautifully relaxing 53 minutes to stretch out, chill and soak up the music.
