Crannog,
How Does It Go?
(independent, 1995)

I recently reviewed Crannog's 2006 recording, No Band is an Island, so I thought it was a good time to take a look at Crannog's 1995 album How Does It Go? An important distinction, though -- not only were these CDs issued more than a decade apart, but they also are an entirely different Crannog.

The 2006 recording was by a U.S.-based quartet composed of Renaissance faire musicians. This Crannog is a session band from Galway, Ireland, made up of Tom Giblin on vocals and guitar, Ide Ni Fhaolain on fiddle and Colie Mullin on accordion.

This selection of traditional music includes 15 tracks featuring 31 songs and tunes. Each is masterfully performed, a blend of familiar and unfamiliar music that is perfect for passing the time. Focus on the music and enjoy the trio's musical talents, or enjoy it as a pleasant backdrop as you're doing other things. Either way, you'll appreciate it as time well spent.

Lately, I've been digging into some of the older music I've got lying around the house, and I'm glad I found this one again. Check it out if you can find a copy somewhere.
