Injustice: Gods Among Us Year Two, Vol. 2
by Tom Taylor, various artists (DC Comics, 2015)

Injustice: Gods Among Us Year Two, Vol. 2 begins with Black Canary returning to her late husband's poorly named Arrow cave to settle a few things, only to find Harley Quinn squatting on the premises. They fight, of course, until the morning sickness kicks in, and the two women find common ground between them.

As to the main plot of the book, the struggle is heating up -- with Superman, the remnants of the Justice League and the yellow-ringed Sinestro Corps on one side, Batman's remaining allies and the Green Lantern Corps on the other. Batman himself remains crippled from injuries suffered in Year One.

Two Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan and John Stewart, have allied themselves with Superman and Sinestro and, along the way, have committed acts that have shocked even the far-right Lantern Guy Gardner. Even more puzzling is Hal's growing friendship with Sinestro; although Hal doesn't know Sinestro murdered the missing Green Lantern, Kyle Rayner, he has witnessed and even participated in extreme violence against other members of the Green Lantern Corps.

Meanwhile, Dinah Lance has just given birth to the late Oliver Queen's son. That doesn't stop her from taking center stage in a last-ditch effort to stop Superman's reign.

The book launches into an all-out war that has a number of surprising casualties. Even a sentient planet takes sides. In the midst of it all, the resistance finds an unlikely ally among Superman's trusted inner circle. Or is it a trick?

At least, in the midst of all of the carnage, there is a hint of a happy ending for someone. Nice touch.
