Linda Ronstadt & various artists,
Feels Like Home: Songs from the Sonoran Borderlands
(Putumayo World, 2022)

Linda Ronstadt is a singer whose music has encompassed so many styles over the years that it can draw in just about anyone who loves music. From Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance to Nelson Riddle and Randy Newman, The Stone Poneys and as a solo act, Ronstadt has been a singer of nearly unmatched versatility.

With a contralto soprano voice of crystalline purity, Ronstadt mesmerizes the listener, no matter what the song. In her most recent compilation album, Feels Like Home: Songs from the Sonoran Borderlands, which serves as an accompaniment to her new book of the same name, Ronstadt performs with friends and family songs in Spanish and English, duets and so much more.

Throughout the album, Ronstadt teaches the listener in an exquisite way the universal nature of music, and the love of family, friends and tradition. Songs such as "Across the Border," sung by Ronstadt along with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris, reaches across the U.S./Mexican border to show that love of music is instinctive to the human spirit.

This album is such that one can listen to any one of the songs and get a feel for the culture of Mexico and its indigenous people, as well as the heavy influence the southwestern United States and Mexico had on Ronstadt and her family, her singing, her music and her heart.

This is an excellent album as rich as the cultures portrayed by Ronstadt and company. Enjoy!
