Eddie Vedder,
Into the Wild
(J-Records, 2007)

Chris McCandless's life story demanded someone with a voice that's evocative, but spare. The instrumentation needed to be varied, but simple. The Into the Wild soundtrack fits the bill.

Frankly, I had no idea Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder could play all the instruments he's used to create the musical landscape for this soundtrack. This is pretty impressive musicianship.

"Hard Sun" is the song that's gotten most of the play from this CD. It's one of my favorites, as well as "Society," "Far Behind" and "Setting Forth."

In my opinion, this is a CD that's not just for the Pearl Jam fans, but people who love good, solid acoustic music are going to enjoy Into the Wild as well -- and nobody could have done it better than Eddie Vedder.
