Mike Younger, Every Stone You Throw (Bare Bones, 2006) Mike Younger was born in Nova Scotia but the music he produces is very much Americana. This is a strong writer with strong views that he is not afraid to express through his music. If we are looking for the spirit of the 1960s in the 21st century, Younger could be the name to seek out. "Everyday War" is a fantastic song with uncompromising lyrics allied to a driving beat and good production. Another strong offering has to be "Killin' Time," which reminds me of Neil Young in the intensity and performance. The dozen songs on Every Stone You Throw give the listener a feast of good music with meaning. It will also give you an appetite for more music from this performer. |
