The Boys of County Bucks, Go Meadai Dia Thu (Javboy, 2005)
The album title, by the way, translates to "May God Bless You." The recording includes 15 tracks that are, for the most part, pretty standard stuff for a traditional Celtic band, from songs like "Black Velvet Band" and "Star of the County Down" to tunes such as "Road to Lisdoonvarna" and "The Gravel Walk." They are mostly well performed here, although on some tracks I'm not always sure they chose the right person to sing lead. I'd say the CD is mostly for folks who know and like the band already. The band, according to their website, is still kicking around in eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and northern Delaware, playing at hoolies and parties, weddings and wakes. Three of the original five-man crew are still with the band, and they've expanded the band's membership to seven. If you've seen them perform and enjoyed the music, this CD would be a nice keepsake of the experience. ![]() |
