Day 3 at the Festival Club, St. Ann's, Cape Breton (10 October 2010) On another cold, rainy night, it was nice to get into the Gaelic College's Hall of the Clans and stand by the fire while listening to some more fantastic music at the Festival Club, where there was another appreciative crowd. Tonight, I have to put the spotlight on All Ireland harmonica player Brendan Power and multi-instrumentalist Tim Edey. They had a wonderful connection and were so tight in their playing. I was particularly amazed at the virtuosity of Power's harmonica playing. He played reels, up to speed, and even threw in some beat boxing! And Edey kept right up with him. He showed his talents on both guitar and accordion, and he proved to be equally adept on both. They looked like they were having a lot of fun on stage, and as a result, the crowd was, too. I highly recommend checking out this duo. They are really stellar. That topped the night for me. 'Nuf said. |
