The French-Celtic connection:
The lines between Celtic and French cultures have crossed and blurred at many times and in many places in the course of history. The Gauls lived in the region now called France before Caesar's legions swept across Europe. Later, in pre-Arthurian Britain, Celts emigrated to the Breton coast of France.
French settlers (Acadians) mingled with Scots-Irish colonists in Nova Scotia. During the French & Indian War, many Acadians were driven out by the English, resettling at the base of the Mississippi River (Cajuns).
