Mike Wilson was born 1975 in Manchester, England. Mike was raised on a musical diet rooted firmly in the Irish tradition, listening to the Chieftains, the Furey Brothers, Planxty and De Dannan, amongst many others. Since he bought his first CD in 1992 (Mary Black, The Collection) he has embarked on a musical journey taking in American country, bluegrass and folk, further explorations into both traditional and contemporary Irish and Scottish music, and of course the folk music of his native England. It was inevitable that music would always play such an important role in Mike's life, and recent ventures into review writing will allow him to engage further with this passion. Mike was educated at the University of Wales, Bangor, gaining an honours degree in economics back in 1999, and has since remained in North Wales where he now works in planning at the university.
